Welcome to SOW!

Welcome to the Sweeney–O’Donnell–Wintering website, a central parking spot for an evolving patchwork of family history, stories and lore—some remembered, some forgotten and some just made up. The SOW Family Tree has many roots and as of this writing includes over 400 mothers, fathers, sons and daughters. That’s a lot of stories. As a taproot Martin L. Sweeney plays a central touchstone for the SOW Family Tree. His story, however, is but just one of many, many others—those who came before as well as those newly born.

What you will find here is a collection of facts, factoids, tall tales and recollections generously shared from the collective efforts of Mark & Candace Wintering, John Sweeney, Kathy Nagy, Nancy Phares-Zook, Robert Sweeney, Timothy Joyce, Martin Sweeney and all of those who have made an effort to insure that the dates and records are reasonably current and accurate. For anyone who has dared dipped a toe into genealogy knows, once started there is no end—a SOW black hole, if you will. Every family, each birth, any celebration and final resting place has its own story to tell.

If by chance you find yourself here and stumble upon a mistake, a typo, a total fabrication, you can either bitch about the inaccuracy and unreliability of what has been shared OR you can set the record straight by sending along your update, correction, edit or suggestion.

This website is by no means set in stone—digital or otherwise. This SOW Family Tree represents an amazing relation of families—an impressive, diverse and talented clan of forefathers, grandparents, parents, siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a maze of interwoven blood lines. Enjoy—and participate!
